Real Experiences with ScoliBrace® – Often the best way to understand the impact of something is through the story of someone who has experienced it firsthand. In this blog, we’re sharing Marianne’s journey with ScoliBrace and how treatment helped Marianne take control of her scoliosis at age 61.
Marianne’s Journey: Staying Fit and Active
Marianne was diagnosed with scoliosis at 12 after her mum noticed one shoulder sat higher than the other. Back then, she didn’t think much of it. “I hadn’t even heard of scoliosis,” she says. “It was just part of life.”
As time went on, the condition didn’t bother her much—until recently. At 61, she started noticing more back pain, especially while riding her motorbike. “It got more painful. That’s when I knew I needed to do something specifically for my scoliosis.” She wanted to stay active and independent, and that’s when she turned to ScoliBrace.
Wearing the brace quickly made a difference. “It helps me stay in the right position. Sometimes I take it off, and my husband still thinks I’m wearing it.. he thinks I’m still nice and tall!” she laughs.
Marianne has also committed to a daily scoliosis specific exercise program and wears her ScoliBracee for 4 to 6 hours a day.
Since starting with ScoliBrace, Marianne says she feels more confident. “I used to avoid wearing strappy dresses because I felt a bit self conscious. Now I feel like I can go out and wear a dress, and feel quite comfortable in it.
Her message to others? “It’s manageable. You can do your exercises, wear your brace—it’s not too painful. Just don’t try to do it all on your own. Get help.”
