Correction of a Moderate Thoracolumbar Scoliosis Using ScoliNight® and ScoliBalance®
At age 12, the patient presented to the ScoliCare clinic with a 19° progressive thoracolumbar scoliosis and postural asymmetry. She had a history of intermittent lower back pain, a confirmed 12° curve at age 8 by the local chiropractor and family doctor, and a family history of spinal deformity. No prior treatment had been provided. X-rays revealed pelvic obliquity, increased thoracic kyphosis (42°), and skeletal immaturity (Risser 0), indicating high risk for further progression.
Due to reluctance to wear a full-time brace, she was prescribed a night-time ScoliBrace® (ScoliNight) for 16 hours per day, a daily ScoliBalance® program, and home traction with a ScoliRoll® device.

Results
- Curve Reduction: After 9 months of night-time bracing, out-of-brace X-rays revealed a reduction from 19° to 8° (58% reduction), and the patient had progressed to Risser 1. Brace wear was then discontinued, and she continued with scoliosis-specific rehabilitation.
- Postural Improvement: Postural assessment showed improvement in trunk alignment and symmetry, with no evidence of trunk rotation.
- Long-Term Management: At 26-month follow-up, the patient remained stable and continued with the ScoliBalance® program and ScoliRoll® use, to maintain correction and trunk muscle strength. She remains active and pain-free.
NB: Results vary from case to case. Our commitment is to recommend the most appropriate treatment based on the patients type and severity of scoliosis.
